ABOUT SIRVERA

The Regional Information System for the Epidemiological Surveillance of Rabies (SIRVERA) is a fundamental database for the fight against rabies in the Americas. It was put into operation for the first time in 1969 and from that date, countries began to periodically report the occurrence of rabies. Under the coordination of PANAFTOSA-PAHO / WHO since 2001, its use has been improved and disseminated in the region of the Americas. The launch of the new SIRVERA aims to strengthen national programs for the elimination of rabies in the Americas.
